GENERAL POLICIES |

Covenant Academy is a State-Recognized Church School operating as a
Ministry of Cornerstone Christian Church.

The school is administered by Covenant Family Educational Ministries. Inc,
a 501c3 non-profit corporation --- and directly governed by a school
board. At least one church elder serves on the school board at all times. 4.
Covenant Academy serves homeschooled or self-teaching students of all
ages. Older students should contact us for the proper forms, Graduation
Information and Adult Programs and other pertinent information. Our
services to these students and their families include: recordkeeping and
all monitoring required by Alabama law for families teaching their
children at home, tutoring
referrals as needed, small group classes and other student activities upon
request, which may incur additional charges, curriculum consultation and
other services needed by these families to facilitate their children’s
education, Legal covering to be in compliance with the state law in
Alabama. 5.
In accord with Alabama state law, parents of students age 6-17 must
complete Church School Enrollment Forms to be submitted to their local
school district office in the first five days of the first year of
enrollment or when any information on them changes. Parents must complete
new forms when the student is ready for a driver’s license, but these do
not need to be turned in to the school district. 6.
Attendance records must be kept by parents and submitted to our office
twice a year – January and May --- to cover the entire semester.
Students are required to show attendance for a total of 170 days per
school year or grade level. 7.
We provide forms for report cards and other recordkeeping helps, but it is
up to the parents to complete and maintain them. An up-to-date transcript
of all courses taken and credits earned must be submitted before
graduation or withdrawal of student. Without this information provided by
the parent, we cannot send records to other schools, colleges, or
prospective employers. 8.
Minor students must be enrolled at least one full school year and
successfully complete at least 24 high school (grades 9-12) credits
(including those shown on official transcripts from previous schools) in
order to obtain a high school diploma. 9.
Parents may use any grade-level-appropriate materials for teaching their
children. We do not provide books or materials but may be able to help
parents find them. 10.
For new Students, an Admission Application is required and a
one-time fee of $50 per student should be submitted with the Admission Application. Annual
Tuition
is $150 per student/family for each school year.
Payment in full must accompany the Covenant Academy Enrollment
Application or the ReEnrollment
Application Forms and the Church
School Enrollment Form Annually. 11.

one-time Admission Application and
for the Annual
Enrollment Application or the Annual ReEnrollment
Application can
be made Online by Debit Cards, Credit Cards and by other Electronic means
can be processed online at www.CovenantAcademyAlabama.com/Tuition
or by U.S. Mail to Covenant Academy. Failure to pay
in a timely manner may result in dismissal of student. Tuition is not
pro-rated, and no refunds are given for withdrawal after the first day of
the public school year in the student's home district.

Field trips, group classes, and other activities may be offered by the
school at extra charge, but are not required. The church building is
available for such things and staff members may be able to help plan them,
even if they are not on the official list. Activities
are available through homeschool support groups in most areas. 13.
All parents MUST provide us with a usable email address for important
messages and are encouraged to join the Covenant Academy Montgomery
Facebook page and group. This is where parents can interact with each
other, ask questions, communicate with staff, and keep up with what is
happening. Official communications, news and policy changes will be
announced at our website: www.CovenantAcademyAlabama.com 14.
Our school year officially begins on the day after Labor Day and ends on
May 31. However, parents may operate on a different schedule as long as it
equals at least 170 days of four or more hours of instruction. We should
be notified of such change. Parents may choose holidays at their
discretion as long as the required days of classes are met. 15.
Parents are considered teachers without pay instructing only their
own children. They may also hire other teachers or instructors, but any
fees must be handled by the parent(s). If someone else is teaching any
basic subjects, the school must have his/her name in our records. It is
the parent’s responsibility to keep and submit all records in a timely
fashion. 16.
All students of compulsory attendance age (6-17) MUST be at home or under
adult supervision during the school day to avoid possible truancy charges.
Jobs, volunteering, special classes, etc. do count as supervision if an
adult is present. 17.
Contrary to the policies of many church cover schools, we will accept
single parents as long as provisions can be made for the child to be under
adequate supervision as stated above. Teaching can be done at any time of
day at parents’ discretion. 18.
School office hours are Monday-Thursday 8:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Office

Any potential complaints about the school should be discussed with the
school Administrators at Covenant
Academy. 20. Covenant Academy does not discriminate, regardless of race, creed, color, nationality, gender, or highest level of previous education. Students and parents need not accept our beliefs to enroll here but must agree to follow the General Policies. And in any school activities or dealings with school personnel or other members and at all times, Students must adhere to the Covenant Academy Student Code of Conduct. |
