Accelerated
Diploma Program
Accelerated Diploma Program
is a special
Graduation program, which is designed to help older students complete
their education.
Accelerated Diploma Program students can earn a
Diploma
instead of a
GED while studying the same material. These students will be issued
General Diploma, with an upgrade to College Prep Diploma upon submission of
passing ACT scores.
The Accelerated
Diploma Program is for students who have not graduated from high school for whatever reason.
It can also be
used by students in the regular church school program or a traditional school to allow them to finish early or
"catch up" to their age group. There is a
separate provision for those who have earned a GED or
similar certificate but would like a diploma. In both instances, students must be enrolled for a minimum of three calendar months before the diploma can be issued.
Students in this program must be at least 17 years old or have special permission from an
Administrator.
Students in our regular home school program may transfer to the Accelerated
Diploma Program at age
16 upon parental request.
Students enrolling in this program must have officially withdrawn from their traditional school or have written permission from a principal or guidance
counselor to take courses with us. Transcripts of all work at previous schools must be made available to us.
Accelerated Diploma Program courses will usually not transfer to other high schools but our diploma is currently accepted by most colleges and all branches of the military.
However, we cannot control this and will not be held responsible if a school or other agency
refuses this diploma. Various branches of the military have varying rules that must be followed in using our program.
It is the responsibility of students wishing to follow that career path to determine what they need to do for their particular branch of the
service.
Accelerated Diploma Program students must enroll just like all others coming into the school.
Due to state laws, students under 19 must have all paperwork signed by a custodial parent or guardian.
Accelerated Diploma Program students need not complete the Church School Enrollment Form.
Fees for the Accelerated Diploma
Program are $100 per school term. This will include one free test per subject.
Additional tests will be $10 per test, collected when test is given (see below).
NO FEES ARE EVER REFUNDABLE FOR ANY REASON.
Accelerated Diploma Program students will study at their own pace using a GED study manual and take a test over that material when they are ready.
Testing dates and times will be established and announced at the beginning of each school year.
Minimum passing score on any test is 70%. Students who need study assistance or tutoring must make independent arrangements and cover all related
expenses, if any. Staff members may be available for that service by appointment.
Students may take Accelerated Diploma
Program tests in any or all of the following subjects: Writing Skills (English), Mathematics, Social Studies, Science;
and may earn up to four credits for each test passed, minus any credits already earned in those subjects.
As this is a church school, we require that ALL students, Accelerated
Diploma Program or otherwise, complete one course in Bible at the high school or adult level.
This can be done using a regular home school curriculum or by attending a 12-week Bible class through the school or any church of the student's choice. Such attendance must be documented by church
personnel on official stationary.
Accelerated Diploma Program students must earn a total of 22 credits, including up to 16 earned through passing all tests, any appropriate one earned from other high school work, and one required credit in Bible.
The remaining credits may include courses passed in previous schools or earlier home schooling work or can be earned through course work prescribed by us.
The determination of credits earned in this way is at the discretion of the administrator or registrar, whose decisions are final.
It is the responsibility of each Accelerated
Diploma Program student to provide us with a copy of documents showing any work done or credits earned in other schools.
Students who have already earned a GED may receive up to 18 credits for the courses covered in those tests upon presentation of a GED certificate and a certified copy of a score report.
These students will be required to complete a Bible course (see above) and three or more additional electives to graduate.
This option MAY NOT be used for military recruits, as the services will not accept it.
Students with passing scores on some portions of previous GED tests will not be required to take those sections of our Accelerated
Diploma Program exam, provided satisfactory documentation is shown.
Accelerated Diploma Program students are NOT allowed to receive advanced diplomas, National Honor Society, distinguished graduate, or other academic awards, unless they have received most required credits through previous home schooling.
Accelerated Diploma Program students may participate in all other contests or activities open to their age or grade level, including exhibit fairs.
Students may take the Accelerated
Diploma Program tests as many times as needed, but each retake must be at least two weeks apart.
All tests after the first one in each subject are $10.00 each.
Accelerated Diploma Program applicants must complete the application and request for records if student has earned any previous high school credits.
